Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of healthcare professionals involved in the care of patients facing cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, or similar life-threatening situations.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Recognize and manage respiratory arrest and cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or immediate post-cardiac arrest care
  • Respond with the appropriate life support algorithm upon recognition of specific needs of the patient in an acute life-threatening situation
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the types and dosages of medications commonly used
  • Execute efficient communication and performance methods working as a member within, or a team leader of, a resuscitation team
  • Employ competence in Basic Life Support (BLS) care, including proper administration of CPR and proper use of an automated external device (AED)
  • Provide appropriate care and counsel for patients and their families

Method of Participation and Request for Credit

During the period January 1, 2023, through December 31, 2023, participants must read the learning objectives and faculty disclosures and study the educational activity.

PIM supports Green CME by offering your Request for Credit online. If you wish to receive acknowledgment for completing this activity, please complete the post-test evaluation on www.cmeuniversity.com. On the navigation menu, click on “Find Post-test/Evaluation by Course” and search by course ID. Upon registering and successfully completing the post-test with a score of 80% or better and the activity evaluation, your certificate will be made available immediately. Processing credit requests online will reduce the amount of paper used by nearly 100,000 sheets per year.

For Pharmacists: Upon successfully completing the post-test with a score of 80% or better and the activity evaluation form, transcript information will be sent to the NABP CPE Monitor Service within 4 weeks.
